WARNING[32485]: loader.c:409 load_dynamic_module: Error loading module
'app_voicemail.so': /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/app_voicemail.so: undefined
symbol: ast_smdi_interface_find
WARNING[32485]: loader.c:721 load_resource: Module 'app_voicemail.so'
could not be loaded.

This is on Debian Sarge with 2.4.32 and zaptel 1.4.12 (with ztdummy).
With Asterisk 1.4.24 all is fine and voicemail works as expected.

Clearly, you've failed to either build and install res_smdi.so or you've
specified not to load it in modules.conf.  Load that module before
app_voicemail.so, and all will work correctly.
