Description: 
going back to 2.1.0.4 and the problem is gone. 

this issue was reported by alecdavid in 0015498 and it is NOT fixed and
should not have been merged into 2.2.0.2.

The patch reloaded all night here, and definitely looked warranted so I
committed it to trunk and merged into the 2.2 branch.  I left this issue
open to make sure that it resolves more issues.
