Description: 
going back to 2.1.0.4 and the problem is gone. 

this issue was reported by alecdavid in 0015498 and it is NOT fixed and
should not have been merged into 2.2.0.2.

isaacgal:  Are you still having the abort messages, or just problems with
echo?

others:  If you're having echo problems with 2.2.0.2...could you try the
trunk of dahdi-linux and apply the mantis-15724-1.patch file?
