I have exactly the same problem.
The version I am trying to get running now is "Asterisk
SVN-branch-1.6.0-r193121" although I reproduced it on 1.6.0.9 as well.

DAHDI Version: 2.1.0.4

Today we ended up calling Digium telephone support and are thankful for the
fix although to be honest I am not much wiser.

The support technician logged onto the machine remotely and modified the
global section of the extensions.conf file. The edit resulted in:

 trunk_1=DAHDI/g1

Unfortunately I didn't get the reason for the change nor what the original
entry was. But for those that get this in a Google search it is at least a
pointer.

I am using the GUI and don't see the difference presented anywhere.
