happened for the second time now today, but I have no idea what triggered
it:

Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.
Core was generated by `/usr/sbin/asterisk -f -U asterisk -G asterisk -vvvg
-c'.

Yes, it appears that the problem is actually a Mantis issue and not your
fault. Sorry about that. Do you know if the backtrace is the same as what
you originally posted in the description? If it is, then hopefully the
patch I uploaded will fix the problem for you.
