jensvb: I tried to reproduce the issue with sip-to-sip calls using a
forced, fixed jitterbuffer, but I couldn't make Asterisk crash.

If you still have a core dump handy, can you open it in gdb and show what
it displays when typing

p frame_ptr->samples
p frame_ptr->datalen

Thanks! I'll also try switching to gsm for my calls to see if that helps
to make the crash occur.
