Summary: JACK_HOOK will occasionally stream extremely high
values that sound like static.
Description:
Setting JACK_HOOK(manipulate)=on through the Asterisk Manager will
sometimes stream loud static instead of the phone audio. This happens
about 1/3 of the time.

This is on a Mac OSX 10.5 ppc and could be because of big-endian /
little-endian confusion, but that should make it always good or always bad.
What strange is that the audio is usually fine. Jackd is running in
realtime mode.

When you have this happen, are the jack ports connected to anything? Does
it ever happen if you turn it on but just connect the ports to each other?
