Some log messages show up in /var/log/messages on my machine.

The "unparseable log message" comes from syslog-ng.

I am not going to change the rest of Asterisk because of a bug in
syslog-ng, especially as it is far from the only syslogger out there. The
traditional syslog daemon works fine; this is a hack to get around the
syslog-ng bug.
