MYSQL(Connect connid hostid xxxxx '' asterisk)

works in a macro defined in extensions.conf.

When the macro is defined in realtime it fails to connect

If you do a 'dialplan show' after loading from extensions.conf, the
contents therein should be identical to what you have in the database.  If
they are not, that is where your issue lies.
