Summary: Playback does not produce any sound in channel
Description:
Asterisk 1.4.6 (locally compiled) on Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) running on Dual
Xeon 3050.

All extensions running any sort of Playback are muted. Tried through IAX2
and SIP as well as CAPI > IAX trunk from the old Asterisk machine I'm
migrating from.

Channels otherwise work perfectly for calls, music on hold (both wav and
mp3) and dtmf.

I'm running ALAW as a primary codec, also supporting gsm and ULAW. I've
tried replacing the sound files with the native ALAW files from AstLinux
without any luck (except with the alaw files i can hear a bzz in the
beginning, then nothing).

Started with 1.4.5, then upgraded to 1.4.6 no effect.

Consider this solved (or at least worked around).

Jul 2 06:37:26 crow kernel: [4185840.292995] rtc: lost some interrupts at
1024Hz.

This was causing the problems or more specifically that fine Dell machine
that was bought behind my back didn't send out all the interrupts the
kernel was expecting.

Setting acpi=off as a kernel option on boot solved the issue for me.
