CentOS 5 hosted in Amazon EC2. This means it's a Xen domU virtual machine

Kernel 2.6.16-xenU

make succeeds, make install fails. See below.

it appears that this is a default configuration issue. I was unaware that
zaptel had a menuconfig option. Install succeeds when xpp driver is
disabled through it.
