Summary:                    [patch] sometimes, cppflags or ldflags are missing
Description: 
Sometimes, CPPFLAGS or LDFLAGS are “forgotten” when linking
an executable, which breaks cross-compilation environments
that pass important information in these.

Also, /usr/bin/ar might not be the right choice for the target,
use a variable ${TARGET_CROSS} which is predefined by most
current cross build environments.

This is for 1.2.x branch.

1.2 has now entered a security fixes only state so I'm closing this bug
