Hello everybody:

I want to know more about asterisk memory management or how asterisk use the
RAM memory .

At this moment in our installation we have 55 active calls and this memory
scenario ....

top - 14:40:58 up 21 days, 2:34, 2 users, load average: 1.06, 0.76, 0.72
Tasks: 72 total, 1 running, 71 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 13.0% us, 2.6% sy, 0.0% ni, 79.0% id, 0.0% wa, 4.7% hi, 0.7% si
Mem: 2074812k total, 2054780k used, 20032k free, 952k buffers
Swap: 2031608k total, 652596k used, 1379012k free, 13996k cached

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
 6281 root 21 0 2642m 1.9g 4108 S 0.0 96.4 0:00.10 asterisk
 2942 gdm 16 0 21512 2928 2120 S 0.0 0.1 0:16.31 gdmgreeter
18191 root 16 0 8432 2380 1964 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.03 sshd
 2185 root 16 0 7344 1572 768 S 0.0 0.1 5:05.17 hald
18209 root 17 0 4860 1432 1160 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.02 bash

Look that asterisk are consuming 1.9 GB of RAM, the server has 2 GB of RAM
installed

To solve this situatio we are executing restart when convinient to free
memory

The platform is configured in a CentOS 4.1 and Asterisk 1.2.7

Can anyone help us????

Best regards
