Thanks for your response.
I looked into ekiga, but that is gnome. Since the port requires a lot of gnome packages as dependency, I thought it to be my LAST resort.
I am looking for something that runs either on KDE or independent of the desktop manager.

maybe you can try ekiga, formally known as gnome net-meeting.
(but it is only SIP and not IAX2)
