I would like to use a simple Wildcard with 1 fxs board as a timer, since all
the calls are IP.

Has anyone had good results with ia64 or amd64?

Has anyone gotten things to work with an SMP machine?

What versions of zaptel and asterisk are you using?

Thanks for the help. I don't want to go spending thousands of dollars on
hardware that won't work.

  I'm pretty sure you cannot use zaptel with AMD64. I installed the i386 version of FreeBSD on my AMD machine and it worked but when I used the amd64 version it crapped out on zaptel. But don't take my word for it.

  As for the version the current FreeBSD port (/usr/ports/net/asterisk) will install Asterisk-1.2.9.1 and zaptel-1.0. That has been working solid for me. Although I had to add the line

  WITHOUT_FAX=1

  to the Makefile to get the build to complete successfully.
