Seems that until fairly recently the cvs tree was maintained in a
buildable state for FreeBSD, maybe not so much now.
If not then maybe the text at the link below should be modified:

It reads in part:
'Nothing in this section is required if you just installed Asterisk
from the port as described above.'
This implies that the info contained '..in this section' concerns
building from 'digium cvs'.
There have been numerous commits to the asterisk cvs tree over the
past months to maintain the FreeBSD build.
The most recent commit to the cvs tree from ~ 12 hours ago
reads in part:
'..correctly fix build issues on Mac OSX Tiger..'
So have they stopped fixing build issues with FBSD ?
