I use asterisk on NetBSD on a couple of small systems, and I'm working
on improving the hardware support. It runs very well, and Asterisk
1.0.8 and zaptel-netbsd are in pkgsrc - you should try them!

Unfortunately, the T1/E1 cards are not supported under NetBSD just yet -
I haven't found the time to port those drivers (and I don't have the
hardware to test, unless someone wants to lend me some!) Currently,
ztdummy works, and the wcfxo and wcfxs drivers work. More help in
porting/troubleshooting is always appreciated!
