[Asterisk-bsd] Recommended FreeBSD release?

Greetings:

Which release of FreeBSD on ix86 is recommended for Asterisk
to support Quicknet Internet Phone Jack and Line Jack, and
to function as a SIP UA?

Aside from any stability and compatibility issues, the configuration
should be network bootable and NFS mounted (diskless), have a minimal
footprint, and support several quicknet FXO and FXS cards (ISA) in the box.

I have OpenBSD experience and dearly wish that the 'ixj'
driver was ported; making a tiny OpenBSD system is a well-
documented process but I fear that this is not so for FreeBSD.

Anyone working on an 'ixj' port for OpenBSD?

Regards,
