David,<br>There is no such industry-wide ban on Asterisk. <br><br>The FBI warning was issued in December 2008 about a vulnerability in Asterisk SIP authentication. The vulnerability was documented by Digium in Asterisk Security Advisory AST-2008-003, and had been resolved NINE months earlier, in March 2008. The original FBI IC3 warning has been revised substantially.<br>
