Wow first I've heard about it? (did a notice go out to the list and I
missed it?)

Cheers,

Dean

Dean -
Actually, we just rolled out the Asterisk Exchange platform about
a week ago. (http://www.asteriskexchange.com/) This is the start of
the platform I think that was under discussion some time ago. Now, it
doesn't yet do all the things that are probably desirable in a
"marketplace," but I would say that there are some obvious things that
it is missing that would be clear next steps for such a platform if
one was to take some guesses at what "v2.0" would look like.

There are several separate models for getting listed on the
Exchange, including paid and free options for commercial and free
packages, respectively. This is hopefully going to allow a starting
point for creating a marketplace for anyone with an Asterisk-related
product for which they ultimately charge money. For completely free
(as in "open source") packages, there is also the Asterisk Forge
(http://forge.asterisk.org/
) which is a full-fledged repository and development toolkit.

For questions on the Asterisk Exchange platform, I'd suggest
contacting Pete Engler (pengler at digium.com) who is the manager for
that project, or with me if you have specific community questions as
to how we use the different tools for different types of software.
