I think he was just trolling.

Not that I feel a need to defend my copy, but I habitually adopt 
British spellings of a great many words because - despite being 
US-based for most of my life - I learned most of my early English from 
British literature.  Also, most English-related teaching materials in 
Russia - at the time, if not now - were based on British English.

If you think that's the same kind of "wrong" as the kinds of errors 
we've been discussing, well, uh ... fine.  :-)
