normally you have no guarantee that they will be there tomorrow.  If you
do it as a calling card platform you are likely to cause some people to
be upset, which in turn causes other issues.  The FCC still has not
ruled either way whether or not that is legal to do, afaik they are
leaning that it is not legal.

if you do not use a US number the advantages and disadvantages may not
be anywhere near the same.
