/var/log and /tmp
You can ungzip compressed image of / FS as well, but this approach will 
require more RAM. IMHO keeping /var/log and /tmp on MD and mounting 
flash (root FS) in RW mode is enough. As i mentioned - i don't have a 
problems for 2 years (with 2.5-3 years old flash chips :) )
