[asterisk-biz] Slightly OT - Covad VOA

Actually, Covad has an interesting product that NetLogic resells that
does give you voice priority over data. It is called VOA, and it is a
T-1 with ATM encapsulation that has 2 PVCs, one for voice, one for data.
I have a white paper I can provide (request off-list if anyone is
interested.) This product is only available from a few Covad
Wholesalers.
The VOA circuits come in four flavors, which are basically the sizes of
the Voice PVC. You can have a 300kb, 700kb, 1100k, or 1500k Voice PVC.
The data PVC is always 1500 Kb. So you have a full data T-1 at all
times, but your voice gets prioritized, and handed directly off to the
nearest Level3 peering point (which is great if you use a Level3 based
VoIP service).
We've banged on one of these in our lab and it works. You can kill the
T-1 with data downloads and your voice sounds fine.
How does it know what is voice and what isn't? They assign you two sets
of IP addresses. You give your Asterisk box an IP from the Voice block,
and your firewall an IP from the Data block. There is also a VLAN setup
you can do that I don't remember the details of off the top of my head.
NetLogic Pricing (based on 24 month contract):
VOA with 300 Kb Voice PVC -- $439 per month, $250 install fee.
VOA with 700 Kb Voice PVC -- $449 per month, $250 install fee.
VOA with 1100 Kb Voice PVC -- $459 per month, $250 install fee.
VOA with 1500 Kb Voice PVC -- $469 per month, $250 install fee.
Available in every CO that Covad has service in. We can offer 12 month
terms (slightly more expensive) and 36 month terms (slightly less
expensive). And we have an agency program that will pay you 10% of each
month's bill if you sell this to your customer. (Or, if you buy one for
yourself, you can usually get a 10% discount from me...)

I need a data T1 for an office at the Fairmont hotel in Boston. We'll
use this for both Internet access and VoIP telephony. Can anyone do
this? It will connect with an Asterisk PBX.
If not, does anyone offer an integrated T1 with four voice channels and
the rest data?
Thanks,
Mike
P.S. Covad won't provide QoS on a data T1.
