Call monitoring/converting to mp3/emailing for 100 calls working for us at P4/2GB ram/SCSI.
So, just transcoding, which take less resources, i guess ok :)
Also, look at voip-info.org , search for 'asterisk at load' or like that, there is some articles....

i doubt if a pentium 4 can transcode 100 g729/g723 channels . Are you sure about it ? ( i havent tried it so um not sure )

Since you only doing transcoding of sip/iax2, an p4 with 2gb ram should be ok. MP3, queues, ivrs, call recording may need more resources.

        Hi all,

I'm looking at some suggestions from you techies out there.

Let me explain my scenario. Im a reseller to callshops.

I need to take around 100 concurrent calls. Almost all endpoints are sending G723 codec and my peers take G729.

Can anyone recommend the Server Specs that is ideal for this scenario. Im planning to lease a server. Calls are purely SIP or IAX2 only.

        Thanks in advance.

        Dan
