[Asterisk-biz] (Fwd) [ciscovoip] Special - FCC Mandates VoIPWiretap Rules -

One would hope it is something easily disabled - say a compile time or
configuration option for all those using Asterisk outside of the USA. The
basics are already there anyhow - chan_spy and app_monitor.

I saw this while looking at fcc.gov today. Is anyone really surprised
about this decision? This has been in the works for over a year now -
and is still in the works. It's still open for comments in the
Federal Register, actually. Especially after the E911 ruling, this
was coming. I'm curious to see how Open-Source * deployments in the
biz handle this. There's quite a bit of controversy about
intentionally installing a "vulnerability" in your software. Any
other takes on this?
