Actually i am rewriting chan_sip.c so it doesn't have to be in the
middle all the time. It will proxy like ser if necessary, or transcode
if it must. Of course the best performance is going to be if you use it
like SER and let your provider do the transcoding.

That will not happen with Asterisk since the system has to be in the
middle
all the time. That is the big advantage of the SER ROUTER. Vonage is
using SER ROUTER on several of their systems.

5000 Users at once on Asterisk? There is no way in hell that will

We sell an asterisk based solution that starts at 5000 simultaneous SIP
sessions on the first 2u server and goes up from there. Way up.
