The big problem with credit cards is that they were never designed for
Internet use in a cardholder not present type transaction.

Also many merchants accepting card transactions are actually breaking
the card agreements ... the only people who can legally take payments up
front are Hotels I believe. Everyone else has to bill when they've
shipped goods.
