[Asterisk-biz] National Carriers: Dealing with Quality

Hey guys,
We have several nation wide SIP->PSTN carriers. Couple in California
and a few on East coast. We are located in south Texas.

Most of the time our calls to the providers are good. But sometimes
they are bad: clipping/cutting in/out being the most common complaint.

Can I assume correctly that this is due to the public internet?

Any possibility that this is SIP related? I bring that possibility up
because we send our TDM customers thru a Cisco 5300 which goes H323 to
these same carriers and we don't get many complaints. But our VoIP
customers go SIP via Asterisk to the carriers.

Could Asterisk CPU usage affect this? Would getting private T1's to
the carriers be a solution?

Thanks,
Matthew
