You should check out Northern 911 (www.northern911.com). They provide
service similar to what you are speaking about at quite reasonable rates. I
believe they have several municipality customers along with several VoIP
providers in Canada and the north eastern US. Their rates seem reasonable
as well.

Subject: [Asterisk-biz] OT: VoIP Tertiary 911 Service

We are beginning talks with a local call center to develop a Tertiary 911
services geared for VoIP providers.

Initially, this will be only available to Canadian providers with a rollout
for US based providers shortly thereafter.

>From the market research we have found so far, it seems that existing
tertiary services are really priced outside of the VoIP markets. The
existing ILECs are also coming up with ridiculous pricing structures (such
as Bell Canada's $2300/month). We're looking closer to a much smaller
monthly fee but with a more appropriate per call charge.

Our vision of the process would be to have a central database of VoIP
customers (only visible/maintained by their respective providers through a
web portal or automated update feed) that would provide the operators with
their callerid and address information. We would then cross-reference that
information with a maintained list of Fire, Police, Ambulance numbers.

We are currently in the business model development stage and would like to
know if any other VoIP providers (both US/CA) would be interested in
something like this? Please feel free to reply off-list.
