[Asterisk-biz] h323 is a dying standard?

Unfortunately H323 is still very popular. It is probably the most widely
used VOIP protocol there is. All of the new VOIP services use SIP (and
this is probably what he bases the above opinion on) but lots of telco's
use H323 on their backends and lots of older deployed hardware only does
H323. This hardware is expensive and not likely to be replaced soon.

It's a shame that H323 is such a mess with asterisk because this prevents
it from interoperating with a lot of the other voip systems out there.
