Hello Greg,

It would be good if you could give us a bit more details about what you
are thinking.

At the first reading, I'd understand that you want to connect a multiple
tenant building (MTU/MDU; Multi Tenant Unit/Multi Dwelling Unit) to a
local telco via a T1. Then inside the building to have a Coppercom class
5 switch and an Asterisk system to deliver voice and data. This is not
going to work. A class 5 switch is part of the local telco. It needs SS7
links to get signalling from the rest of the telephone network.

What you are probably thinking is to have an Asterisk system connected
to a Coppercom class 5 switch via a T1 (usually PRI). The Coppercom
would be located at the local exchange and the Asterisk in the MTU/MDU.
This is the usual arrangement. But in this case why would you care what
class 5 switch the local carrier uses?

Some clarification of what you are trying to achieve would be great for
us to give you our opinion about it.

Regards,
Dan.
